nema premium efficiency

WEG is wholly committed to green products and technology. This commitment matches their passion for efficiency, flexibility and innovation. Products that use resources responsibly, use less fuel and create fewer emissions are WEG’s aim.

The U.S. Department of Commerce currently estimates that there are more than 12.4 million electric motors of more than 1 HP in service throughout industry in the United States. They further estimate that nearly 3 million of these will fail this year. WEG and V.J. Pamensky Canada Inc. believe that users should also be evaluating the replacement of all the motors in your plant going forward, to save energy costs and contribute to improving our environment.

A staggering amount of the world’s electricity is used on electric motors. Higher efficiency motors will not only help companies meet targets for green initiatives, but save money in the process.

WEG payback calculator tools, found in the Download Center, are resources that illustrate the savings potential of a higher efficiency motor.

Canada, like many other countries, has now legislated a move to higher efficiency in electric motors. It is important that companies understand and are aware of this change.

WEG NEMA Premium Efficiency Electric Motors

WEG has had products that meet or exceed NEMA Premium efficiency standards for years. Recently, WEG has launched the W22 line of motors that not only surpass previous efficiency levels, but also bring other improvements to the motors. New frame designs allow for better cooling and less vibration and therefore better reliability.

WEG’s WISE insulation system meets NEMA MG1 Part 31 for inverter duty use. The ability to use a motor in conjunction with a Variable Frequency Drive can also dramatically reduce energy use in certain applications. Further, WEG motors when used with a WEG Variable Frequency Drive can extend their speed range even further thanks to advances in WEG technology.

WEG Super Premium Efficiency Electric Motors

WEG has just launched a new line of W22 Electric Motors with Efficiency levels above the NEMA Premium level. These motors are some of the highest efficiency electric motors in the industry and are available from 1 to 250 HP in frames 143T to 447/9T.

WEG’s Green Policy

POLICY OBJECTIVE ACTIVITY
100% Reuse We are committed to using as many natural resources in the industrialization process as possible, even including the treatment of sewage. We process wood by reusing sub-products such as scraps, shells and wood dust. All of the water used by WEG’s manufacturing facilities is recycled.
Environmental Impact Control It is our goal to eliminate or at least minimize environmental impact caused by company activities. We evaluate and take control over any major environmental impact that would be caused by solid waste, liquid sewage and air emissions by installing systems to eliminate or minimize them.
Industrial Scrapping Area We deposit our foundry scrap. We have built a scrap deposit in accordance with NBR requirements 10, 157/87 with 3 cells of 13,898, 3,795 and 3.915 square meters of area. An onsite sewage treatment system (ETE) carries a lifespan of 18 years.
Water Treatment Station We treat all wastewater used in our industrial processes, including tin-coating and phosphatization, greasy wastes, and nitrogen and phosphorous removal caused by auto-phoretic painting processes. We have established a new treatment station at WEG Automation and increased capacity at WEG Motores and WEG Tintas stations.
Solo Plant at Saw Mills We treat our sewerage system, boiler cleaning water and gas cleaning to avoid polluting rivers, with the aim of conserving and recovering Atlantic forest. Our Treatment of Roots Zone is a natural system that uses the natural soil associated with typical local trees (Grampineas and Juncáceas), providing high removal of sedimentable solids (98%) with improved removal of Oxygen Bio-Chemical Demand (90%) and Oxygen Chemical Demand (80%).
